Choose the right crafting mode

ModeOfficial behaviorEditorial starting point
OrderProduces a specified quantity, then stops; pauses if materials run out.One-time equipment, a quest requirement, or a controlled batch.
StockKeeps an item's quantity above a specified threshold.Ammunition, food, healing, and recurring supplies with a desired reserve.
AutoProduces indefinitely, pausing and resuming with material availability.Stable intermediate resources whose continuous use justifies the input drain.

A practical setup sequence

  1. Build and activate the Warehouse to unlock the three crafting modes.
  2. Put limited early materials into Order Mode until you know which lines are actually recurring.
  3. Move operational supplies to Stock Mode and start with conservative thresholds.
  4. Reserve Auto Mode for dependable inputs; otherwise one chain can starve every other project.
  5. Queue research, then check whether the labor, material, and transport layers can support the newly unlocked production.

What AG-14 changes in diagnosis

AG-14 fixed a defect where soldiers could make resources disappear while hauling. If a chain still stalls after updating, inspect current inputs, staffing, transport, storage, and recipe mode rather than treating the old disappearance bug as the default explanation. The patch does not publish hauling throughput or an ideal Stock threshold.
